Facing History

Hello friends and fellow history enthusiasts! I’m delighted that you found your way here. For those who know me, it might come as quite a shock to discover me messing around with technology and creating an online presence. In my defense I can only confess that after a lifetime spent on one side or the other of a lectern, I miss being in the classroom happily engaged in lively discussions about the subject most dear to my heart: history.

I want to reopen my classroom to a larger audience of former students, old and new friends, and history enthusiasts of every stripe. My hope is that you will find material at this site to awaken imagination, nourish a sense of wonder, fertilize the intellect, and provoke reflection. Serious stuff with some laughs. Let’s continue the conversation and allow our shared curiosity room to roam.
